Dear all,

In this *Backchannels* post
<https://www.4sonline.org/a-revelatory-pandemic-disaster-social-science-and-the-covid-19-pandemic-in-latin-america/>,
Virginia García-Acosta and Roberto E. Barrios report on an online
"mini-conference" that focused on the relevance of the social science of
disasters to the analysis of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The geographical focus
of this event was limited to Latin America, the Caribbean, and sites of
Latin American transnational migration, although the questions asked are
applicable across the globe.
