> Dear colleagues,
> At the University of Bayreuth (Germany) we are currently offering a tenure-track position in STS of the Global South (application deadline August 10th).
> This professorship has been designed with a focus on the production, circulation, and adaptation of technologies. We are looking for a scholar with a profile in social or cultural research who has an excellent track record in empirical research on these issues and who is located in or closely connected to Science and Technology Studies (STS). A successful candidate will have an empirical and practice-theoretical research methodology. Their research and teaching interests will take into account questions of knowledge production and the political location of technologies and enable innovative approaches to the material and social aspects of technology. A regional research focus in the Global South is required, including attention to the social dimensions of technology transfer in the context of global interconnections. A regional focus on Africa is preferred, as the professorship is to be integrated into research projects in the Cluster of Excellence “Africa Multiple” and in focus on African Studies. A topical focus on questions of global justice, risk or innovation
> (particularly in the context of energy technologies), mobility, digitalization, climate change, nutrition, or global health is preferred. Institutionally, the professorship is to be based in the Department of Social & Cultural Anthropology, and the creation of synergies with other disciplines is expressly sought.
> For more details see the attachment.
