Subject: [HASTRO-L] Student Travel Award for HAD meeting
To: HASTRO-L at listserv.wvu.edu
To encourage graduate students to present papers at its meetings, the
Historical Astronomy Division (HAD) of the American Astronomical
Society (AAS) will present up to one award for each of its meetings.
The award will consist of $500, to be paid after the meeting at which
the student presents a paper, either oral or display.
Any current graduate student is eligible. A student may not receive
the award more than once.
The application deadline for a student travel grant for the January
2014 HAD/AAS meeting just outside Washington, DC is 17 September
2013. To apply, the student should send the abstract of the paper to
the HAD Secretary-Treasurer at hadsec at aas.org. The student’s academic
advisor should also send a message stating that the student is
currently enrolled and will not complete the doctorate before the
meeting.
The HAD Committee will make the decision and inform the recipient
before the deadline to submit the abstract to the American
Astronomical Society (1 October). The Committee reserves the right to
make no award for any given meeting.
