Dear colleagues,

Welcome to the state@lists.wiser.org.za, which I hope will serve as a virtual centre of excellence on the study of our state (and its peers). This is something that, I think, engages a very large number of academics at Wits, and it produces very important research. And these are, to put it mildly, interesting times if you're interested in the state.

After talking to several people I think it would be useful to ask each of you to introduce yourselves with the idea in mind that we assemble these biographical descriptions on a single web page. It would be useful, also, to have a list of the state-related research projects that you are involved with; these can be placed on another page.

So, please, respond to this email by introducing yourself in one paragraph, including links where that's possible to your work, and another that describes your research projects.

Many thanks, k

-------
Keith Breckenridge W I S E R - The Wits Institute for Social and Economic Research, University of the Witwatersrand | Pbag 3, PO Wits, Johannesburg, South Africa, 2050 | Phone +27(0)11-7174272 | Web: wiser.wits.ac.za | Biometric State, CUP, Sept 2014 | Co - Editor, Journal of African History.
