For the next meeting of the Polecon Seminar, Wednesday February 8, we will
be reading:

Zainab Usman's *Economic diversification in Nigeria: the politics of
building a post-oil economy *(a great new study of the Lagos
transformation, full of interesting lessons for South Africans).   The book
is available in open access here

For the following meeting, March 8, we will read

Clara Mattei *The Capital Order: How Economists Invented Austerity and
Paved the Way to Fascism, *(Chicago, 2022).  The book is available on
Amazon and Libgen.

The Public Economy Programme, based at the Southern Centre for Inequality
Studies, will be hosting Mattei at Wits in the two weeks after March 10,
and this seminar is prep for that visit.
